We
invite you to experience the sights and sounds of a long-standing
tradition as this year's festival promises to be better than ever.
The Virginia Pork Festival, one of the East Coast's largest food
festivals, combines outstanding pork dishes
with continuous live music, from
multiple stages, to make this an event not to be missed.
Although
the primary
goal of the Virginia Pork Festival is to promote the pork industry,
it is a nonprofit organization that provides local clubs and civic
organizations with an opportunity to raise funds for their
respective groups. Over the past 26 years more than one million
dollars have been donated to: Hospice, Shriners, area civic, rescue
and fire departments, and many others. It should be noted that all
dishes are prepared and served by these groups, all of whom make the
festival a great success for the local communities.
The
Festival attracts people from all walks of life, from the local
businessman and farmer to Virginia Governors and State Senators. Not
only does the Virginia Pork Festival captivate Southside Virginia
like no other event, it welcomes attendees from as far south as the
"Sunshine State" of Florida up to "The Big
Apple" New York and from the West Coast visitors from
Washington to the "Lone Star State" of Texas...all of whom
enjoy the opportunity to sample the fare and enjoy the festive
atmosphere.
Scheduled
to take place from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11,
2003,
the Virginia Pork Festival will be held at the Greensville Ruritan
Club Grounds located in
Emporia /
Greensville County, Virginia. Prospective attendees of this popular event are
strongly encouraged to place their ticket orders immediately, as
tickets are limited and available on a first-come first-serve basis.
An early sell-out, as is traditionally the case, appears to be
highly likely. If you are planning to spend the night and need a
place to stay, we recommend the
Hampton Inn, the Official Hotel of the 2003 Festival. |
